Wooden floors look really great if you have a traditional motif for your kitchen. It’s quite safe against accidental slips and breakages because of its soft surface. However it is not water repellent and it does rot in the course of time. Without proper maintenance you may be faced with the expensive cost of having to redo your kitchen floor all over again. What to Look for When You Go Shopping for Kitchen Storage Furniture

Posted in Solutions on March 20th, 2011

When I go shopping for kitchen furniture I don’t only look at the price and design. I also look for its practical features and check it out for its durability. The kitchen is one of the busiest places in our home. So when I buy furniture it should serve a lot of functions at the same time won’t occupy too much space that it will make my kitchen too cramped and crowded.

The kitchen caddy is one of my favorite pieces of kitchen storage furniture. It’s small and compact but it has a large number of functions. It’s a small wooden trolley with wheels so you can easily move it about in the kitchen or dining room. Underneath the tabletop are racks, shelves and drawers where you can place your kitchen utensils, plates, glasses and even napkins. Whenever I lack dining space in the kitchen the tabletop can serve as a makeshift counter for that extra guest. Some models even come with wavy iron racks where you can put bottles of wine in a horizontal position. If I lack counter space for my kitchen ingredients like spice bottles the kitchen caddy is what I use. It doesn’t eat up too much space in the kitchen. I can place the caddy against the kitchen wall or in a corner.

Closet Organization for Your Linens

You’ll be surprised how you can accumulate so much linen over the years. They could be as many as your clothes that is why you may need to designate a specific closet just for these items. Storing the linen with your clothes could make your closet space cramped and disorganized. By creating a closet used entirely just for the storage of linen will make it easier for you to access these items and keep them organized.

Linens come in different sizes even when they are folded. You have to plan your closet organization to accommodate these pieces. Putting several shelves into your closet with an appropriate depth of 12” and 12-15 inches in height provides ample space to store various sizes of your linen. Once linens are folded you can stack them up on the shelves according to their size. It is not advisable to stack your beddings and towels to their maximum height. Leave a little space on top so it will be easy for you to pull out one item without creating a chaotic tumble of linen. Leaving a little space in between the stacks allows some air to circulate in the closet making your linens smell fresh all the time.

In our home, the kitchen is the busiest place to be during breakfast. Everyone is up at 5am eating a quick meal of bread, bacon and eggs before rushing off to school or work. I find it funny how my family during their rush would forget to sit on the table while eating their breakfast. My son told me its too much effort to pull the heavy dining chair when your body is just jumpstarting with energy. That’s why they find it more convenient to stand or move about eating with their plate of full of breakfast food in their hands.

I finally got them all to sit down when I installed a kitchen counter with bar stools in the kitchen. Bar stools are so convenient because it is so light you can effortlessly pull them away from the counter and slide easily onto them. These chairs are so ideal if you just want to have a quick snack or meal in the kitchen. It added an interesting feature in my kitchen interiors. My family takes more pleasure eating their breakfast by sitting on the stools beside the counter. I didn’t spend a fortune in making this slight enhancement in the kitchen. I got the bar stools cheap over the internet.

Nothing annoys me more than seeing mess all over the bathroom! It gives the impression that the bathroom is so unhygienic. Clutter on the bathroom floor is definitely an eye-sore. You won’t want to use a bar of soap you just picked up from the floor do you? Dirty clothes on the floor can become everyone’s bathroom mat if you leave them there for sometime. You can even break your neck from slipping on the toys left by the kids on the floor. The only way you can get things in its rightful order is to use bathroom organizers.

There is a variety of organizers you can use in the bathroom. These are very useful in minimizing bathroom clutter. They even have such pretty designs that they can even be used as bathroom enhancements as well as space savers. An over the door organizer makes good use of the space behind the door to place all your bottles of body and hair products into a neat display. There is even a bottom bar where you can hang towels or your dirty clothes. You can also use a shower caddy or a shower basket that you can hang from the shower head. It gives you easy access to your shampoo and body wash bottles during your bath without having to pick them up from the floor.
